Gran Canaria Airport.Information

Situated 210km from the north-west coast of Africa, Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands, and over 10.3 million passengers passed through its airport in 2007. .

Two million of those passengers flew to and from other Canary Islands from Zone C, which handles all inter-island flights. Zone A is used for all flights within the EU, and Zone B for all other international flights

This is the largest airport in the Canary Islands, and the only one on the islands with two runways, allowing up to 53 take-offs and landings per hour.

How to get there

The Airport is located to the east of Gran Canaria on the Bay of Gando (Bahía de Gando), about 18 km (11 minutes) south of the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and 25 km (15 minutes) north of the the popular tourist areas on the south coast.

Airport Parking

With over 2,000 long and short term parking spaces available at Gran Canaria Airport, including 38 for disabled passengers, reasonable rates are charged in all areas. The car park is always busy, but never leave your vehicle parked outside the arrivals or departure halls, as it will
be towed away immediately.Costs for car parking are: free for the first 30 minutes, 52 cents for
the second half hour or part thereof, part of an hour or full hour after that is €1.03.

A daily maximum charge of €10.30 is made for up to 4 days, and the fifth day onwards is charged at a maximum of €8.25 per day.Automatic payment machines are located on the upper level of Floor A and on the lower level of Floor C. Euro notes and coins are accepted in the
machines but not credit cards. Credit cards can be taken at the information point on Level A.

Airport Buses

Two Airport Bus routes run to and from Faro de Maspalomas and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and provide an efficient and cheap service. The routes are as follows:

From the Airport – Faro de Maspalomas (Line 66).Route 66 runs hourly between 7.20am and 10.20pm. The fare from the airport to Faro de Maspalomas is €3.40.

From the Airport to Faro de Maspalomas,(Line 66) the bus stops at CC.Atlantico Shopping Centre, Hotel Vecindario, Bahía Feliz, Águila Playa, Clínica Roca, San Agustin, Beverly Park, Escorial, Bronemar, Plaza de Maspalomas, Gran Canaria Princess, Las Margaritas, Sunwing, Ocean Park, Faro II, Municipal Offices, Flor Beach, Maspalomas Oasis, El Palmeral Oasis, Mercurio Restaurant and Faro de Maspalomas.

From Faro de Maspalomas to the Airport, the bus stops at Mercurio Restaurant, El Palmeral Oasis, Maspalomas Dunas, Riu Club Maspalomas, Municipal Offices, Faro 2, La Parra 1, Club 25, Paraíso Maspalomas, Las Margaritas, Plaza Maspalomas, Apartamentos Los Ángeles, Parque Tropical,Beverly Park, San Agustín, Amurga, Playa del Águila, Bahía Feliz,
Atlántico, Hotel Vecindario, Gran Canaria Airport. Line 60 Airport - Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

From the Airport to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Line 60) there are two routes which run hourly from 5.45am-1.30am. The fare for route 1, between the airport and San Telmo Bus Station is €1.95, and the fare for route 2, between the airport and Parque de Santa Catalina Bus Station is €2.50.

Route 1 from the airport stops at San Cristobal, Lady Harmaguada and
Parque San Telmo Bus Station close to the old town.

Route 2 from the airport stops at Parque de Santa Catalina Bus Station in
the town centre.

Taxi Service

The official airport taxis are situated just outside the main arrivals halls at the airport, and drop off passengers just outside the departures hall. The fares are split into two bands depending on the day and time you travel.

Fare 1 (from 6am to 10pm work days) – All or part of each kilometre is 47
cents. Minimum fare is €2.68. Price per hour waiting is €12.79 and the
fractional rate for every 15 minutes is €3.20.

Fare 2 (from 10pm to 6am and all day holidays) – All or part of each kilometre is 58 cents. Mimimum fare is €3.21. Price per hour waiting is €12.79 and fractional rate for every 15 minutes is €3.20.

Airport supplement is €1.65.Fares to the main destinations in Gran Canaria, depending on the fare band, are approx:
